Always a Catch by Peter Richmond

Tonga Keti

Plot Summary

A junior named Jack is given an opportunity by his dad to go to Oakhurst High School, which is well known for football and music. Jack makes a decision to start something new like football but he also has a talent as a musician. As Jack develops in football, he begins to like the decision he made. Jack has good hand coordination with the football and is willing to play at the higher level with seniors, but he is very skinny and not very strong. He struggles to have a starting position.

Critical Analysis

Always a Catch is a 10 of 10. I love high school students who struggle in school but in the end are popular and well respected. Jack struggles to be well known on the football team and has a hard time becoming respected by his teammates and coach. This book really reminds of myself coming into high school not well known. I struggled to get respect from the football team, but in the end I'm well known and respected.
