Allegedly is a book about a girl named Mary, at the age of nine she was accused of killing a three month old baby named that her and her mom used to take of. But did Mary really do it? Mary was sent to juvi which she calls "baby jail," then moved to a group home where she is not liked, wanted, needed, or loved. Now Mary is now 15 and pregnant by a teen named Ted, and finds out that she can not keep her baby, will Mary confess to crime and what really happen? or have her baby taken away and finish her time?
Critical Evaluation
I would give this book a 10/10 because This book teaches us a lot about, love, and everyday lives. We also learn more about how the teens in group homes live, and how they feel about being a group home. When we are stuck in position when its your life what do we do? Do we take the blame and got to jail or prove your innocents? When Mary kills a 3 month old child everyone blames it on her and instead of having a supportive mother. Her mother leaves her with guilt.

Brandon Sanchez

Summary
The book is about about a kid in high school named Frankie Torres Towers who lives in the shadows of his older brother who is better than him in mostly everything. His brother gets the girls and scholarships, is popular, and does whatever he wants without his parents bothering him. Frankie, on the other hand, has problems at school with a boy named Dalton, who is a rich kid whose parents own a tortilla company. Frankie's life becomes more miserable when Dalton gets the girl that Frankie likes. Things change for Frankie after an a incident in a golf park but is it for good or bad?

Critical Evaluation
This book is about karma and the different lifestyle a person can take. Frankie is a good kid and follows the rules but his brother pulls him into making crazy dumb decisions which end badly.  His brother is gang affiliated and his lifestyle is way different from Frankie's, but Frankie is getting involved into his older brother lifestyle as well and he is seeing how his brother is bit by bit destroying himself.

I give this book a 10/10 because its very suspenseful and it makes you want to read more and more. And also it's very interesting because it's got action, suspense, love and more.

All Involved By Ryan Gattis

Madeline Cruz

Plot Summary:
All Involved by Ryan Gattis is a novel based on various stories of gang members and people who witness the Rodney King riots.  But throughout the book we learn about why they're in gangs and why they do activities such as killing or doing drugs.

Critical Evaluation:
Throughout this book you'll learn about fear and doing drugs. Gattis seems to be telling the reader that when a person does drugs when scared they'll do stuff they never thought they would be capable of doing. For example, a character called Lil Creeper does hard core drugs in order to help himself out in his daily life because he feels unstoppable on drugs. This hurts him both emotionally and physically because when he is on drugs there are situations where he doesn't remember how he got to a place or how he got something done, which affects his health by giving him a tumor. Through this example we see the author telling us that we can't use drugs to get out of our problems, because drugs will only make them worse.

For this book I'll give it a 10/10 because the way the book was set up really made it interesting and it really kept me on the edge of my seat because I kept wondering what's going to happen next.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman

Antonio Sanchez Ortiz

Plot Summary:

While working for Mr.Wednesday his whole life changes and he discovers a whole new world filled with Gods. He also has to deal with his now dead wife who somehow comes to life again, and he tries to finds a way to bring her back.

Critical Evaluation:

I would give this book a 10/10 for its plot, structure, and many character developments that are in it. This book has a structure unlike any other books I have read, at the end of many chapters it includes more information about the Gods or about different things happening. While the plot is one of the very best I have seen. You get really enticed with the story and don't want it to end. The character developments are shown in many of the characters. You get to see Shadow grow as a character, while finding out more and more about Wednesday and why he picked Shadow.

Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson

Madeline Cruz

Summary:
This book is about a suicidal teenage boy who goes into his senior year trying to finish high school as fast as possible. His dad is a total bully, his best friend is dating his sister, and the love of his life doesn’t even know he exists. But everything changes once he gets to school and people see he has changed. He’s bigger, smarter, and even badder, making the love of his life take a second look. But there’s one problem, Bethany’s brother doesn’t seem to happy to see him.

Excerpt:
“I was so desperate to make this night happen, I took the school bus home. The upperclassmen stared at me like I had lost my mind. I nearly told them I had an almost date with Bethany Milbury ( I’ll see you tonight, right?) but that would have tempted the fate, so I scowled at them instead.”

Critical Evaluation:
I liked the book because it made me wonder what would happen next each time I stopped reading. The author really made the book have some really intense parts which really grabbed my attention. This book deserves a 8 out of 10 stars because at times there would be boring parts where it wouldn’t get my attention as much as how the intense parts of the book did.

The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey

Haotian Jiang

Summary
This book is mainly about a girl named Cassie who tries to rescue her brother who has been taken to the Alien camp to be trained to be a cold blooded soldier after the Alien invasion to Earth. After the 4th wave, you can’t trust anyone...

Excerpt
“Because if I am the last one, then I am humanity. And if this is humanity’s last war, then I am the battlefield.”
I really like this quote because this is when the main character Cassie is trapped under a car and is bleeding really badly, but she can’t get out because there are Aliens out there waiting for her. She can either get out and die or die of waiting. Because she believes she is among the last people who is still alive, she does not want to die worthlessly, and decides to make something big happen.

Evaluation
I give this book a 10 out of 10 because it’s so fun to read and eye-catching. It’s fascinating to see different people’s perspectives of the world when aliens invade their society. I really enjoyed this book and I strongly recommend to people who like mystery and sci-fi books. Once you start to dig deep into the book, you can’t stop digging and just want to keep reading!
